A Mid-Year Reset: How I’m Reflecting (And How You Can Too)
not where I thought i'd be but, here's what I'm doing about it...
There you are cleaning out a drawer
or flipping through an old journal…
or looking for something completely different and next thing you know…
there it is.
a list of goals you wrote months ago.
you sit there staring, half-smiling
reading through each one like you're visiting a version of yourself you almost forgot.
and all you can think is…
“oh sweet, hopeful thing… you had no idea what was coming, did you?”
you don’t feel bitter.
just… older. maybe wiser.
a little more tired, for sure.
maybe even more grounded.
because even though life didn’t unfold the way you planned, you’re still here.
you’re still trying.
you’re still showing up the best way you know how
but maybe now, you’re feeling ready to write a new list
one that comes from where you are, not where you thought you’d be.
because I know that’s exactly where I’m at right now.
and you might be thinking…
but, it’s june. who’s writing goals in june?
and that makes me wonder how many people would be accomplishing the things they want for themselves in life
if they stopped waiting for the right season to take action.
if they stopped waiting for January to roll around
or the perfect circumstances
this is why I started doing mid year check ins.
it can be so easy to coast through the year, things dont go to plan,
you get thrown off track and next thing you know its december
and you’re scribbling down the same goals as last year, if you set any at all.
i’ve definitely been there.
but i decided to not wait so long to check in
because every 12 months was just too time in between being intentional about my goals.
and the truth?
the first half of this year has been… a mix.
there have been moments of clarity, and moments of chaos.
I’ve shifted goals, let go of timelines, and tried to stay rooted in what actually matters.
but I can feel myself craving more intention moving forward.
last year I dropped a mid year check in video to encourage others to also take stock of how their year is going,
to not wait until January rolls around
and I wanted to re-share it this year.
as i’ll be using it to do my check in this month.
it includes a free notion guide that will take you through your own check in that you can find here.
so, at the end of the day….
it really doesn’t matter how the first 6 months of this year have went.
it doesn’t matter if your life got completely turned upside down like my did.
what matters is what you do with the next 6 months.
what matters is how you spend the time you have left of 2025…
because it will pass anyway.
so please know that if you’ve been on autopilot or just winging it lately…
you’re not alone.
and there’s no better time than the present to slow down, reflect, and ask yourself:
What do I want the next six months to feel like?
PS. Last year, I made a Mid-Year Check-In video
where I walk through the exact questions I ask myself to reflect, reset, and realign.
I even made a free Notion template you can steal for your own check-in.
you can watch the video here if you need a little structure or inspo.
or just jump right into the free notion template here.
Heyyy, I can here from your YouTube video update posted 2 moths ago about Substack. OMG it helped me so much. I’m new to Substack and all in my head. lol. Thinking about what topics to write about, subscribers, blah blah blah. So I appreciated your video. You got yourself a new subscriber. 😊
I love the idea of a mid-year check in. There's so much that has happened so far this year that I couldn't have predicted, unlike last year where it felt like nothing happened, this year seems to be accelerating everything.
